A tension in my current teaching life revolves around online vs on campus teaching. In person, on campus wins hands down. However, I'm trying to be reasonable and critical of online courses and distance technology. Yes, we are all headed toward a more electronically connected world (expect those of us who can't afford to access it), but I am not willing to undervalue the most basic human interactions that are part of sitting with and reacting to each other. Nope, sorry. Trained as an clinical psychologist. I want to be "in the room" for "the here and now."
So I'm biased against online courses, but I do teach them. So I am always trying to figure out how to do better. We'll see. All posts with the "online" label will be about teaching and distance ed.
